Has there ever been one in MLM who made enough selling before ever recruiting?
I want to hear from any person in MLM / Network Marketing that has ever sold enough of their product or service to make a decent full time living (say at least $50k/year in earnings) before ever recruiting someone into their down-line. The obvious nature of the question is to help refute that MLMers only really make money by recruiting. Say it ain't so. Also, what product or service did you sell? Aircoole - see Avon. Jay S - you hit the nail on the head.

- By definition, success in MLM can only be achieved by recruiting, not selling product. You would have to deliver 100s of brochures at a high hit rate to make any money at all. If you get a customer on the hook they usually buy once every third brochure, so you work out the maths. Sorry but there's no such thing as a free lunch. Did you ever meet an Amway/Betterware etc rep? What's the first thing they tried to do? Sell you a bottle of detergent or recruit you to 'financial independence' ?
- If it were true that you can make money doing that stuff, then MLM wouldn't have the scammy reputation they have. The only people making real money on these things are the guys at the top that cooked up the schemes that you send your startup fees to.
- Well I'm not 50k yet. But I am in MLM just started and my commision check each month is going up. I am a candle distributor. I can sell to little mom and pop shops, hair salons etc. The only places I can't sell to is nationwide stores like walmart and such. I can also work craft stores and flea markets. So i really think it can be done. Also not to toot any horns but some of my customers ended up joining because they love the product. Hope that helps!
- I guess it may be determined by ones definition of "enough." However, there is not one person who can argue that the significant money is made in the commission of products or services sold. The design of the MLM/Network Marketing business model is to recruit others into a downline and earn commission off of recruiting and sales. Many have claimed that recruiting is not necessary. To make an income of $50k purely off sales you would make far less then minimum wage. I love to hear the ones who relate their business to the direct selling industry. A true salesman would scoff at this notion.
- Hello, I started a MLM company about a year ago, In fact I didn't wanted recruit people at first so that I was selling the product before recruit and It was really excellent, and at 6 months began to recruit more people with big success, I am currently 4,000 people in my organization, and the product we have is high consumption, are pills to save fuel and reduce emissions of harmful gases by up to 85% the question is easy, think it is necessary to save fuel? and I earned 90k in one year. www.luisgarzon.myffi.biz luifer2@yahoo.com
