Anyone have any good MLM horror stories?
Like slowing down to view a traffic accident, its near addicting to hear about the tragic waste of time, money, relationships that MLM brings on to just about anyone who gets involved. Anyone have any good ones? *note* i realize there are many MLMers on here who will jump at the chance to call me names for not believing in their sham...don't bother, I don't care how many millions you are supposedly making or how naively you are convinced MLM is the greatest thing since sliced bread. This question is only for those intelligent enough to see MLM for what it is. for those wondering what MLM is...Multi Level Marketing, or also called Network Marketing. *Mexico4Me* Why do you feel the need to defend MLM wherever it is exposed? You want to take issue with my line of work, be my guest. I have made it clear in my profile I invest in apartment buildings. If you think that's the worst way to invest, I don't have issue with that. Why is it that you can't seem to handle anyone who explains why MLM is a sham? You are so quick to suggest I know little about sales and marketing which is ironic being that you come from an industry that prides itself on signing up friends and family with no concern for any business backgrounds. Do you even know how little percentage of people in MLM have a business degree? I can speak logically all day long about why MLM is a sham because I analyze business opportunities for a living. MLM is not the only sham out there, but MLMers are the only one's who seem to constantly need to defend their position. The reason is plainly obvious, because MLM is an unintelligent emotional decision you have made.

- Yes, here's one that's a whopper. People who have proven they know nothing about marketing or direct sales that sit on their computers and bad mouth an entire industry! How small minded is that? By the way, I am intelligent enough to see MLM for what it is, unfortunately YOU are not. I would LOVE to come to your work and tell you what a complete idiot and sucker you are for doing whatever it is you are doing and telling everybody that what you do is totally disrespectful, a tragic waste of time, money and relationships, and that you are basically just taking up precious oxygen that could be used for much better purposes. Why don't you find something constructive to do with your time and leave the intelligent people alone. You're starting to get quite sickening with your rants.
- I don't have any horror stories per se but I can say that the ridiculous claims by most MLMers are more than scary enough. Also, I just have to comment, the above answerer, Mexico4me, seems to have serious defensive issues about MLM. This isn't the first time that he answered an MLM question calling people who disagree with him names and screaming about how no one should disrespect his industry and anyone who does can only be an idiot. I think thicker skin is in order for this fella. I hate to break it to you, but the majority of the worlds successful entrepreneurs are NOT in MLM, and just because people identify flaws in MLM doesn't mean they don't know about marketing/sales. Prospect based (non sales) MLM is fundamentally flawed in that it must continue to grow geometrically to actually warrant the supposed riches that MLMers profess, and thus, it cannot grow indefinitely.
- My upline who signed up people flashing his fancy car and his expensive home, and then finding out that he declared bankruptcy because he went broke. Then having this same person come back a year later trying to get me into his company selling some wonder tonic that he was convinced had all these health benefits. I even tried the tonic and never had any positive affects from it but this guy kept bugging me. It was awful. The business of multi level marketing is made up of people who get all excited about products only because they think that they are going to make millions. Without the idea of getting rich, no one in their right mind would use these products. Its sad though, because I can tell you from my own experience, good people get sucked into this business. I signed up family and now am embarrassed about having tried to push this terrible business by them. Now I own my own consulting business and have gained back my credibility. Not having to look at everyone i see in all walks of life as a prospect is refreshing, but moreover, experience in real word business as oppose to the so called MLM business is night and day.
