multi-level market a miracle or a tragedy ?
A friend of mine recently asked me to join a multi-level marketing (MLM). In a MLM, a sale agent gets another person to join under his name with a entry fees .The primary sale agent will then take a commission .The subsequent agent will then earn commission by recruiting more ppl .Technically ,such approach is unlawful. However , many companies bypass this law by claiming that the main aim is to sell a particular products and recruiting ppl is only a form of "marketing" .But what appalled me is not that such scam existed .But how many people know that it is a scam and yet they choose to continue and pulled even more ppl into this whirlpool .Their reasoning is that no matter what ,so as long as money is to be made , its ok .Whats worse is that this people actually managed to swindle large profits legally but unjustly .YES ,i may be prejudiced against MLM , but is hoping that we won t not degrade into a society that judge everything in terms of money so wrong?

- Nope, you have it just right. And, so did P.T. Barnum "there's a sucker born every minute". Maybe you could think of it as Darwin's law at work. These folks pay a lot for a lesson in life. The wise and good survive, the fools go broke.
- There are probably 2-3 legit MLM firms. There are very few that I can name, but I actually believe there are people making an income by actually selling Amway, Avon, Mary Kay and Tupperware products--I've bought the products and I am in no way involved with the companies. (I do worry about sellers who ambitiously stock up on inventory without knowing if they can sell it or not.) Very few people are skilled leaders and mangers...so a true MLM marketing company would have a pyramid shape. That is many product sellers and few managers. The fake MLMs turn that pyramid upside down. One guy selling and dozens attempting to collect a tiny sliver of his revenues upstream. And the "entry fees" are ridiculous. It's a ponzi scheme! And I'm sure that any time I hear about a new MLM, it's founders are the same hucksters who started a previous one. The "recruiters" will try anything. I've been appalled at the folks who will try to recruit you at church or by stressing an affinity with you. (We're both women, so I wanted to tell you....)
- Lerael, I can understand why you might be prejudice against Multi Level Marketing. Like everything else in the world those feelings are stemmed from lack of knowledge, experience, and/or misinformed. For example. if 12 of 15 McDonalds were boarded up in your city would you still eat there? When the general public talks about MLM’s they are referring to the 12 boarded up McDonalds rather than the 3 franchises that are successful. In other words, they are talking about what they heard and not what they know from their own experiences. Negative comments or experiences about MLM’s usually come from individuals who did not making any money in their business which a reflection on the training program and mentor and/or the individual gave up too soon to see their financial rewards. In all honesty there are some awful Network Market companies and they shed unfavorable light unto the entire industry. However, MLM’s or home based businesses are legal and it IS a business! All legitimate MLM businesses will have the following: a great product that sells itself, excellent training program, mentors, a fair compensation plan etc., By 2015 I would not be surprised if an additional 10% of the U.S. population has at least one Multi-Level Marketing business because it is one of the most proficient ways to leverage time for money. In short, home base businesses are going to be a solution for millions of people to combat inflation and create wealth for generations to come.
- MLM is a tragedy in disguise, what ever you invest or going to, please do that wisely, don't fall into MLM and loose all your close friends as I had lost all my contacts due to my MLM marketing. If you have money to invest, invest in shares or forex as it gives substantial returns in due time.
- if they are selling products like Amway, it's not illegal - if the only money involved is membership fees and you earn commissions for recruiting people, then it is an illegal pyramid scheme - no one really makes any money in MLM anyway - you spend way too much time at rah-rah meetings and recruiting people and not enough selling and the prices are artificially higher than normal to pay all the multiple levels of commissions - the only ones that make money are the ones who get in early and get a lot of people under them who actually sell stuff
