  1. if MLM is Multi Level Marketing..travel agencies...I would avoid anything to do with them.
  2. I would recommend you do a search on "mlm travel" [scam] before deciding this is the industry you want to be in. Also do a search on card mill [scam] I recently read someone boasting about how big the travel industry is and how being an independent travel agent is going to make you rich. I know it sounds inviting, but where do you go when you want to purchase travel? Expeida, Travelocity, the airlines, etc.... The big pitch is that everyone likes to travel. Well that may be so, but I have two friends that have been in this business for over a year, have spent (they won't say exactly) but plenty just to keep their accounts active, websites, all these hidden fees that they don't know about up front. Neither one has successfully gotten #1 anyone to purchase travel, airline, cruises, or any other service they offer either through friends, family, strangers or internet advertising. #2 anyone to sign up as a team member #3 a penny or return on the ongoing investment. Some of these major companies are under investigation for being cards mills and placing too much importance on recruiting instead of actual selling of the products, so be careful and do your research before joining. I wrote a blog on advice for working from home. You can find a link in the 2nd paragraph of my profile here on answers. It is NOT a commercial and I do NOT advocate any google adwords ad on my page. Section 2, 3 & 4 would probably be the most beneficial in your case. There is also a link to the "MLM Legality Test" on my profile here. It would be well worth the read. If I can help further, let me know ~jennifer Helping others create income from home through education of the system and how it really works.
  3. I chose Traverus travel because they have done their due diligence before opening in any country. They have a huge presence in Europe. I was able to take advantage of online training to become a CTA (Certified Travel Agent) which allows me to do business with the cruise lines and hotels direct....as well as discount travel for agents only. I also appreciate that they are very meticulous about doing things legally as well as ethically.
  4. I maybe biased but I like YTB. My profile page explains exactly why I like it. There is also Joystar and Traverus. Please note that every MLM travel biz will be accused of being a card mill. Traditional brick and mortar travel agents do not like us. Additionally just because someone is not successful in MLM does not mean you will not be successful. Something else that other posts fail to mention is the numerous tax deductions with owning a business. When you book on another site what do you get in return? You get some nice pictures and some bills. At least with your own travel site you get a chance to build a team of your own and sell travel. What is so wrong about that? Last year YTB promoted 94 people to director level. Everyone in YTB starts with one person.
  5. The only legitimate source that I know of for finding a home-based travel business is to check out Direct Selling Association (DSA) at http://www.dsa.org. DSA is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Be careful about searching the internet for anything mlm related because there is so much misinformation out there. Anyone can build a website and lie to you. My wife and I started our own online travel business through YTB. YTB is publicly traded, SEC regulated, has a $6,000 guarantee, and offers limited medical insurance to all RTA's. They even just sent their top agents on a cruise to the Bahamas. No one else does this. We love this business! With YTB, your clients can take advantage of the Fly Free Program, YTB Golf, YTB Cars, YTB Flowers, concerts, shows, and sporting event tickets, well wishers, honeymoon registry, and book complete packages for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games including tickets with amazing commissions. YTB offers more vacation packages and options all of the time. In one day, the YTB RTA's sold over 14,000 cruises. In 2007, we sold we over $1 billion in travel. By the year 2011, YTB is on track to become the worlds #1 travel business. No one comes close. The best part of YTB is the people. The support is amazing. I feel safe investing my time and energy into a company that will be threre for the long haul.
