What is the difference between Network Marketing and Multi-Level Marketing? I thought they were essentially the same only that the term "MLM" was burned out so it was repackaged at Network Marketing. I recently was lead to a site that proclaimed it was not MLM but when I finally got down to the meat they began speaking of their Network Marketing concept. So what is the difference?

Multi Level Marketing? Recently a friend of mind had asked me to join a Multi Level Marketing business(www.dchl.org) under him. His point is t's still very new in circulation and its very easy to get people to join under me. I know the strategy of a MLM business and how does it work but my question is wheteher it is trustable? What is the success rate of MLM business or the people who joined them? If its so easy to make money then why don't everybody join it? When does it ends (everything that begins have an ending).? How do you handle an acquaintance whose only motivation is to get you into networking marketing or MLM? About 2 weeks ago, I met someone who worked in my building who recognized me from Facebook. He said he knew my fiancee so we chatted for a bit. I gave him my contact info and a few days later he called. This morning he left a message on my voicemail wanting to have lunch with me. He also left me an e-mail a few hours later. Why is he so interested in my friendship? My first instinct told me that he was trying to get me into "multi level marketing", similar to Amway and other pyramid schemes. I went to his Facebook page and saw a bunch of links to domains he created, and they were all selling/promoting a health product. This situation is similar to experiences I've had with MLM types. It seems like they have this distorted view of reality and won't take no for an answer. They never answer skeptical questions and insist that you either listen to a DVD or attend a meeting at a hotel to find out. I have always ignored them and they eventually give up.

How do I get my mom to stop buying into MLM scams? My mom is quite poor. She stays at home and she and my dad are divorced. For extra cash, she tries to earn money via MLM (multi level marketing or network marketing - similar to 'pyramid' schemes). She has tried out at least half a dozen over the past decade and all they do is suck her in, she exploits her friends, goes on overseas conferences, she's convinced she'll be a multi-millionaire within months and maxes out her credit cards on MLM junk (buying stock she never sells, advertising paraphanalia etc). Despite failure after failure, she convinces herself that it'll make her big bucks. I try to be tactful but she's been so brainwashed she won't have a bar of what I say - MLM is the future of the economy, it is NOT a pyramid scheme but a real investment opportunity, such-and-such made millions out of it, blah blah. What should I do? It's become such an issue that sometimes there's not enough money for food and electricity!

Why Multi Level Marketing? Just anyone i know who's joined MLM never became rich off of it. Infact most, if not all didn't even see their investment returned 100%. You and I have also been victims at one point of time, and we now hate anyone persuading us to join their network of users where they eventually want you sell their products or services. Since coming to the U.S. another trend I keep finding in various Bible churches and especially the big Southern Baptist "mega-church" in my area: After the services there are many pushy "salespeople" pushing "miracle cures" to anyone who has health problems. I visited my neighbor's church and he said before we went inside: "If you know anybody with cancer, they should think twice before asking anybody here for prayer because once the word gets around, the patient will be bombarded with sales brochures and testimonials about "miracle cures" of various nutritional supplement pills which are sold by a MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) networks. And an accompanying trend at these churches seems to be an interesting "everybody knows that..." factoid which is focused around the alleged health and curative advantages of eating raw/uncooked foods. [When I tried to explain to a lady that cooking actually releases three times the carotene in a raw carrot -- but she just gave me a blank look.] Friends have described to me similar trends at the conservative Evangelical churches in their respective cities. Was my actions towards a scammer considered good, neutral or bad? Well long story short, I usually play a site for my country where you can advertise to meet friends and such. So one day a girl added me. Not to be friends though, more like to try to get me into some kind of multi level marketing stuff. She was very nice, a bit too nice so I thought okay wow. So we chatted for awhile and then she was like, "you doing anything tomorrow?". I was like no why and she started talking about the MLM stuff. I smelled trouble so i politely declined the offer and she said she was cool with it and it would still be cool to be friends. So I started some casual chatting with her then she started answering with one word answers until to the point where she ignores me. So I was like "oh so this is how she really is" and just left her on my MSN. A few weeks later she greets me yet she DOESN'T EVEN REMEMBER ME. So I got pretty annoyed at that simply because it furthers the proof that she is just using people for her own benefit. I decided to play along, acting like I was really interested and that she would get some new fish.
